The 3D Atlas users layers to allow you to explore the anatomical structures. Select the regional anatomy you're studying and use the interactive features to enhance the learning experience.
Use the Help Options
Anatomy.tv often displays Quick Tips when 3D Atlas is first opened. Check these out!Help and About displays to the right of the selected anatomical region before you click on a particular structure. Consider using the Help and About options.
Make Sure the Bottom Tools are Displaying
After selecting the desired regional anatomy in 3D Atlas, if you don't see the bottom tools below the anatomy image, you may need to reduce the zoom of your screen. CTRL - (CTRL minus sign) on a PC reduces the zoom, and CMD - (CMD minus sign) works on a Mac. The screenshot below shows the bottom navigation that should display below the anatomy image, but won't show if your screen is too zoomed in. It also labels the top undo / redo arrows that relate to the actions you've taken using the bottom navigation.
The bottom tools are as follows from left to right: Layers, Rotate, Zoom, Flip Horizontally, Flip Vertically. The screenshot below labels these tools.
Layers!
The Layers tool is critical and lets you add and remove layers to go deeper or more superficial into the anatomical structure, or see the vascular system, nerves, etc. In the bottom tools, the far-left options are Layers. Below is a brief video demonstrating the Layers tool.
Right-hand Text Panel
Wherever you click on the anatomy image, the right-hand panel will give you details of the selected anatomical structure. There may be hyperlinks in the structure's description and these links could open up details of another anatomical structure, a video, or a dissection or other slide. The screenshot below gives an example of the right-hand panel after a specific structure has been clicked. The screenshot also shows the Visible structures option that displays in the right-hand panel. If you click on Visible structures, a list of anatomical structures will appear that allows you to click on structures within the list to have them highlighted and explained.
Left-hand Panel: Imaging
The left-hand panel gives you numerous tools. Imaging allows you to see an MRI slide next to the anatomy image (screenshot below).
Left-hand Panel: Slides
Slides are available from the left-hand panel, and by clicking on slides there are various options, depending on anatomical region selected, and they may include: Anatomy slides (these are marked up), Biomechanics slides, Clinical slides, Dissection slides (interactive), Radiology slides, and MRI. Click on the desired slides type, such as Anatomy slides, to see the submenu of available slides. There is a screenshot below of the left-hand slides option.
Left-hand Panel: Saving / Sharing
You can Save, Share or Embed the image that you see displayed on the screen, including the text found in the right-hand panel. These options are found in the left-hand panel (screenshot below). For FSU Instructors, you can use these images in your course! Our license for Anatomy.tv covers the copyright for educational use.
Instructors - Important Information!
Embed and Share linking needs some minor tweaks to work from off campus! Please see the For Instructors tab.
