For 2023 - 2024, the FLITE Safety Committee is working on the following:
Standardizing the location of first aid kits throughout the building.
Developing guidelines for posting incident report information for building employees.
Creating an annual review cycle to ensure emergency training, continuity/recovery documentation, procedures, training, and supplies are kept up to date.
Develop a post-incident review plan to critique emergency response and recommend procedural changes, if needed.
Archived Activity
The FLITE Safety Committee has completed the following projects since it was established in 2018:
Updated evacuation maps for each floor of FLITE.
Updated FLITE's Emergency Response Procedures for FLITE faculty & staff.
Developed a plan, coordinating with Ferris DPS for the annual testing of panic buttons and emergency call boxes within the building.
Developed an evening security program, employing student safety/security staff to help promote a safe environment after normal business hours.
Established safety tours for all new employees, including student employees working within FLITE.
Created an emergency color-code alert system to alert building staff of certain specific emergencies occurring within FLITE.
Established Emergency Response Teams for emergency medical response and to assist with various emergency situations.
Created a comprehensive Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plan to help restore library operations as quickly as possible in the event of a catastrophic incident.
Created a comprehensive FLITE Safety & Security training program for all building employees.
