The Michigan eLibrary provides "all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books" and more! Through MeLCat, Michigan residents/students can have books from participating libraries throughout the state sent to their participating local or school library.
To login to MeLCat and request an item to be sent to your MI Library [MI residents only]:
- After running a MeLCat search, select an item that is "Available"
- Click on "Get This For Me"
- Select Ferris State University from the drop down menu, or your Local Public Library - wherever you want the item sent!
- For sending to FLITE, enter your MyFSU username and password, otherwise, use the specified credentials for your local public library
- Request Selected Item, and the screen should indicate that your request was successfully submitted
- You'll receive a notice when your item has arrived. FLITE sends out an email notice. For public libraries, inquire with them how they will notify you.
- Go to the Check Out Desk at the library that your item was sent to so you can retrieve it.
- Usually you can renew the item 1 time, but be sure to do it before your item is due! The library it was sent to can help you with renewal.
- Return the item to the library where you checked it out!
