PubMed for Case Reports from Optometry and Vision Science

PubMed database is the easiest route to go to specifically view Case Reports found in Optometry and Vision Science journal so you can see multiple examples to better familiarize yourself with the style used for this journal. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to PubMed through a library link so that you can access full text through FLITE, which includes access to over 100,000 journals. 

Note: PubMed is freely available, so you can Google PubMed to get into this database, but while a Ferris student, go to PubMed through a library link for FLITE's full text options.

  1. From PubMed's homepage, scroll down a little and under the heading Explore, select Journals.
  2. Search on your journal's title: Optometry and Vision Science
  3. Click into the journal's record, and always pay attention to see if it says Currently Indexed for MEDLINE, meaning that the journal's articles are systematically included in PubMed and curated to be discoverable through searching this database (MEDLINE is a component of PubMed database).
  4. In the record for Optometry and Vision Science, on the right-hand side you'll see PubMed Search Builder. Click on the button to Add to search builder, and after it appears in the Search Builder box, click on Search PubMed. Screenshot below.

  1. Once in the results list, use the left-hand filters to specify the article type if you want to view only Case Reports. Scroll down the left-hand filters, and under ARTICLE TYPE select See all article type filters. From here select Case Reports and Apply.
  2. For articles of potential interest, click on the article title and select the Ferris FullText option to link out.
  3. You can always add keywords after running a journal search, so you can go to the search box above your results set of articles that has the journal information and enter your keyword(s) of interest.
