FLITE will follow special procedures for handling books and other materials to better protect our staff and the Ferris community.
Books received through MeLCat or borrowed through Interlibrary Loan will be quarantined for 96 hours (4 days) before they are available for checkout.
Books returned to FLITE will be quarantined for 96 hours (4 days) before being checked in. This means the book will still show up as checked out for 4 days after it is returned. No late fees will be charged for this time.
Since MeLCat and Interlibrary Loan depend on other libraries that are also following safety procedures, it may take longer for some FLITE services. As always FLITE will work to provide the best service possible.
When making a request, allow enough time to process your request and receive the item(s). You will be notified by email when your item(s) arrive. Books may be picked up at the Circulation Desk. Articles and scanned book chapters sent to you electronically are yours to keep. You have 30 days to download electronic files.

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
The Ferris State University Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copy request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of that request would involve violation of copyright law.
