Michigan eLibrary and MeLCat

The Michigan eLibrary provides "all Michigan residents with free access to online full-text articles, full-text books" and more! Through MeLCat, Michigan residents/students can have books from participating libraries throughout the state sent to their participating local or school library.

To login to MeLCat and request an item to be sent to FLITE:

  1. After running a MeLCat search for CLEP books, select an item that is "Available"
  2. Click on "Get This For Me"
  3. Select Ferris State University from the drop down menu
  4. Enter your MyFSU username and password
  5. Request Selected Item, and the screen should indicate that your request was successfully submitted
  6. You'll receive an email when your item has arrived at FLITE. Go to the Check Out Desk to retrieve your item.

To login to MeLCat and request an item to be sent to your local public library:

  1. Make sure that you have a library card for your local public library.
  2. After running a MeLCat search for CLEP books, select an item that is "Available"
  3. Click on "Get This For Me"
  4. Select your local public library from the drop down menu. Some libraries are part of a district, such as Kent District Library, so you may need to look under the district and then select your local branch library
  5. Enter the requested credentials for your local public library. Remember, if you do not yet have a library card for your local public library, this will be needed first!
  6. Request Selected Item, and the screen should indicate that your request was successfully submitted
  7. Contact your local public library to determine how they'll notify you when your book is received through MeLCat - text, email, phone call, mobile app.
  8. Go to your local public library to pick up your materials received through MeLCat, and you'll also return the items to your local public library.
