CHEM 451 (Rivera) - Introduction to Physical Chemistry

General and Online Reference

Online reference collections and some websites can be great for short, digested, topic overviews when you are completing pre-research. Reading through information will help you understand a broad topic better and should give you ideas for narrowing your research interest.

SmartSearch and Library Web Page

Use SmartSearch to search most FLITE information resources, including databases and journal packages.

Use the Books search option to find ebooks and print books. Use MeLCat to request books that FLITE does not have.

Use the Journals search option to look up individual journal titles and find content that FLITE makes available through databases and journal subscriptions.

SciFinder-n

Search References in SciFinder Scholar to find abstracts for and links to the Chemistry literature. Often the full-text article is immediately available; if not you can use Interlibrary Loan to request a copy of the article.

Google Scholar

Google Scholar uses freely available information about scholarly research and publications to point users to scholarly content. Many of the full-text articles are behind a pay-wall and may be available for individual purchase (don't do it!). You can set up Google Scholar to take you directly to FLITE's subscriptions. See sidebar for directions. If FLITE doesn't have the article then consider Interlibrary Loan.

Google Scholar Library Links

Go to Google Scholar

Find the Menu and choose "Settings"

Choose "Library Links"

Search for "Ferris State University"

Click the box to choose "Ferris State University Library -- Find It"

Now there will be a link provided to get to FLITE subscribed content

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service that allows Ferris State University students, faculty, staff, and emeriti to request library materials not owned by FLITE. All requests are entered and managed through the online system ILLIAD. First time users will need to register for an account. See the ILL Guide for more information.
