Course guide for Tracy Busch's American Women's History class.

FOLLOW-UP QUESTIONS AFTER RUNNING FANTASY CONGRESS

  • Are your members are voting consistently with their past voting record or if they have changed their “voting ideology”.
  • How well is your fantasy congress is doing and why?
  • Is there legislation that will be discussed, and/or brought to a vote during your fantasy congress on your women’s issue?
  • What type of congressional member voted aye or nay on this issue? What do they have in common? Are they from a specific region of the country? Do they represent one political party or another? Do they represent a specific gender? Consistency of position? Ethnic identity?
  • What does this say about the longevity of a congressperson’s “lifespan” in office? Is that different for members of the senate or the house? Do they go on to hold other political offices?
  • What does this say about which party holds power at the time legislation goes up for a vote?
  • What would happen if this legislation went up for a vote today?
  • If this legislation went up for a vote today, how would it affect you (the student) personally?
