A guide to using the PaperCut print management platform in FLITE

PaperCut for Mac OS X Installation

You can set up your Mac to print to any of the public printers in FLITE. These directions will allow you to do so. If you have questions, you may ask for assistance at one of FLITE's service desks


  • You must have administrative access on your Mac.
  • You must have Mac OS X version 10.4 or higher.

Installing the PaperCut Client

Sending a job to the print system requires a client. Begin by downloading and installing the PaperCut client.

  1. Download the file
  2. Unzip (unarchive) the file
  3. Move to your Applications folder.
  4. Double-click the file to run it. You will need to run this program anytime you wish to print in FLITE.

Configuring Printers

To start using PaperCut, add PaperCut printer queues on the computer:

  1. Open System Preferences and click on the Print & Fax icon.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Click the IP tab.
  4. Choose Internet Printing Protocol from the Protocol dropdown.
  5. In the Address box, enter in:
  6. In the Queue box, enter in the information for the specific print queue you want. Your choices are:
    • In FLITE:
      • /printers/FLT_COLOR
      • /printers/FLT_BLACK&WHITE
    • In Optometry:
      • /printers/MCO_213_B&W
    • In Business:
      • /printers/BUS_106_B&W
    • In VFS:
      • /printers/VFS_BLACK&WHITE
  7. In the Name field, enter a name for the new printer queue. This is the name that will be shown to users on the computer; it can be anything you want.
  8. Print Using: Choose the appropriate printer software.
    • Recommended for FLITE Color: HP Color LaserJet CP 4025.
    • Recommended for FLITE Black & White: HP LaserJet 1400 Series
    • If you don't have those, try Generic Postscript Printer
  9. Click Add. The new print queue will now show up in the list of printers.
  10. To print from the new queue, select it from the printer popup button in the print dialog of any application.

Removing PaperCut

To remove PaperCut from a computer, drag to your recycle bin.
