Locating Primary Source Articles in ScienceDirect
- Enter your search term. Don't forget to use quotes to keep words together that must appear next to each other in your search. Use AND, OR & Not (Boolean Operators) to connect search concepts. Boolean operators must be capitalized.
- Enter a date range if you are interested in a certain publication date range (ie. 2013-2018)
- Try "Research Articles" and "Case Reports" as Article type selections.
- Before choosing your articles, make sure they are the primary source types of interest by reading the abstract.
- ScienceDirect is a great source of secondary sources in science also. Consider changing the "Article Type" limits to "Review Articles", "Encylopedia" entries, "Book Chapters" or other secondary source types of interest.
