 yellow square

Formula:

GPA at graduation + course #s + library instruction participants + PILOT = impact

Process

  • Determine how to collect this information so it can be submitted to Institutional Testing

Associated Measures

Associated Data

  • Student GPAs in their major
  • Time to degree completion
  • PILOT pre/post test data

Target

  • X% of students who participate in library instruction as part of a first/second-level English course at FSU have higher GPAs (as compared to the average GPA of all FSU students) at graduation.
  • Define X% of students
  • Define “high” GPA

Rubrics/Questions Used to Determine Score

  • How many classes or sections are impacted?
  • How many partnerships with how many faculty have been developed?
  • What was the percentage of students who participated?
  • What was the GPA of the two students?

Results

  • Analysis of statistics showing correlation between library instruction participation and high GPAs at graduation
  • This project became part of FLITE's HLC Quality Initiative for Retention. In March 2019, the decision was to abandon this project. Other studies have shown that FLITE would not be able to show any statistical significance on the impact on retention. (March 2019)
  • The pre- and post-test is still being administered through PILOT
