Citation Styles for the Sciences

Ask your professor which citation style is preferred.

American Psychological Association (APA), Council of Science Editors (CSE), National Library of Medicine (NLM), American Medical Association (AMA), New England Journal of Medicine (NJEM) and other styles may be used in the biological sciences.  Please see linked Citation Style Guides:

Many journals have their own citation style, most of which are largely based off of another major style, such as National Library of Medicine citation style. The Instructions for Authors is where you'll find the proper citation style for a specific journal, such as the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
