Skip to Main ContentBy default, in Gale PowerSearch, you are taken to a keyword search. Because this database is huge, you may be overwhelmed with results (see steps 2 & 3 below for suggestions to find better results).
If the default keyword search gives you too many results, consider trying the Subject Guide Search that allows you to focus on a specific topic.
In the Subject Guide Search, you won't always find your exact topic. Don't panic, simply use the search box that shows up at the top of the screen if your topic isn't found, or click on Advanced Search.
If your subject is found, you'll have the option to view the Subdivisions of your topic. Subdivisions are very handy and allow you to jump to the subtopic of greatest interest.
Once in your results set, be sure to notice what Content Type you're viewing - meaning Academic Journals, Magazines, Books, Videos, etc. You can always select a different content type if you'd like.
***Remember, in order to link out to full text, click on the Find It link. Click here for a reminder on using the Find It link, or see a video tutorial on using the Find It link.
If you click on a title to go into the full record, you'll see the Tools on the right side of the screen. One option is Citation Tools that can assist you with creating a properly formatted citation; however, the citations in this database are usually incorrect and require slight modifications. Please check the citation against an APA style guide, such as the APA Guide found here.
Always double-check the citations against an APA Guide!
