Music: Databases (Articles)

The Scribe Database emanates from La Trobe University, and includes a systematic collection of scores, color images, texts and bibliographic information pertinent to medieval music. Color facsimiles of original manuscripts are provided. Composers flourishing fromt eh twelfth to the fifteenth centuries are represented, and alphabetized lists (consisting of anonymous works, composers, a substantial corpus of liturgical chant and manuscripts) are provided via additional links.

This database contains information regarding worship books printed prior to 1601. RELICS includes information on over 13,500 titles. The information for each title is accurate, having been gleaned from personal inspections of monographs contained in most of the major research libraries of the United States. A few selected items contained in European libraries are included as well.

The Thesaurus Musicarum Latinarum (TML) is a database devoted to the entire corpus of Latin music theory written during the Middle Ages and hte Renaissance. Searchable links are categorized by date (e.g. fourth-fifth centuries, sixth-eight centuries, ninth-eleventh centuries, etc.). Once a link has been searched, texts for the respective treatises may be accessed.
