Drugs Used to Treat Conditions

If you're interested in finding a research article about a specific drug used to treat a condition, then try these steps in Lexicomp:

To determine the terminology being used for the condition you're searching:

  1. Search for a drug that you know is being used to treat the condition
  2. When the results options appear, click on the drug name under Lexi-Drugs
  3. Once in the Lexi-Drug monograph, look under the Uses section and find the terminology being used

An example for finding the terminology for a condition would be looking up the drug Atenolol, going into the Lexi-Drugs monograph under the Uses section and determining that hypertension is the terminology being used for high blood pressure.

Now that you know the terminology for the condition you're interested in:

  1. From Lexicomp's top navigation, select More Clinical Tools, and select Advanced Search
  2. Select Use from the Limit to monograph section drop-down menu
  3. Select Lexi-Drugs from the Limit to database menu
  4. Enter the condition of interest in the Search Lexicomp box and run your search
